Maya Faces in a Smoking Mirror

Young Mayas struggle to retain or redefine their Maya cultural identity and to resist a dominant culture which commodifies everything.

Just as the threatened grand diversity of corn that Maya preserve in their niche environments may ultimately save our mono culture dependent food supply, the values that their threatened human culture (and others worldwide) preserve may some day help rescue us from our ever more homogenized and baseless "culture".
